What is a Strawberry Fork?

I thought it might be helpful to go through some of the unique flatware pieces you might come across in your hunts. I am constantly running across silver or silver plated gadgets that I am going home to research.  God love those Victorians who wanted a flatware piece for every different piece of food.

Low and behold, my vintage friends, I give you......The Strawberry Fork.

A Strawberry Fork is easily recognized.  Most of them have three very narrow prongs that are long and elaborated. According to the folks at Replacements, Ltd this fork is meant to puncture the fruit and then dip it in a condiment, such as powered sugar which was really popular to pair with strawberries back in the day.

Strawberry Forks, however, do come in two prong versions. You just may not be as likely to run across them...so if you do, grab them!

Wouldn't these make the most addition to your summer table?!? Do you have a few strawberry forks in your collection?
